Extruded plants

The field of new technologies is the source of deep mutations. It snatches and engulfs the mind and the thought, and becomes a second nature to us. Stuck between the screen and the click of the computer mouse, the body loses the substance of things and is disembodied in the digital flow. The screen perpetually switches us back and forth between real and virtual.

I wonder how to bring life back.

In this time of the digital, the Internet and communication networks, I feel the need to weave links between the universe of the screen, that generates new behaviours, and the "outside", that remains our referential "nature".

Therefore, the structures of trees, the rhizomes, the roots are natural shapes that inspire me to find an escape.

By drawing leaves and trees on a computer screen, I combine nature and technique to create graphic patterns in the shape of excrescence. Their expansive strength shows vitality and a feeling of freedom.

Quickly, it becomes an exotic, hybrid garden that finds its materiality outside of the screen, on a tangible medium that are the jigsaw pieces in volume.

With this exhibit, I make of the volume the stand on which the digital drawing is displayed, to anchor it more durably in our space. As if it were repotted in reality. A tree needs, to grow, its wet nurse, soil.

The volumes are built in the shape of jigsaw puzzle pieces, playing on the idea of an expansive shape.

They do not show a finished ensemble, as a traditional jigsaw puzzle would, but the incomplete image of an excrescence that goes from the screen to terra firma.
